Today was a very magical day. On one hand, I got back some money I didn’t think I’d get. On the other hand, my cellphone got suspended because of a misunderstanding regarding payment methods, and my domain ankari.me expired.

I won’t be renewing it because Siteground.com charges about $39 dollars for it, and it’s kind of insulting, considering places like Godaddy.com sell .me domains at like, what. $8 dollars? Sorry, guys. I’ll be staying over at this Maubox subdomain |D.

In the meantime, Merry belated Christmas, and an early Happy New Year for you!! I hope the next year is an awesome one, full of productivity, health, money and happiness for everyone! <3

Always alert, always.

I had rehearsal this morning, but there was some miscommunication with my guitarist friend, and it was canceled. So, since I was already up, I decided to give all of my works in progress a listen, and sort them out in four folders- songs for myself, Vocaloid songs, instrumentals and miscellaneous.  And as I went over them, I started thinking about my modus operandi in the composition and songwriting department.

One of the things I learned from that job I mentioned in my last blog post is that even people who are much more accomplished professionally than I am sometimes work the same way I do… Trial and error, their compositional experiences a neverending editing process.

And of course now, as I listen to my works in progress (25 unfinished Vocaloid songs so far and counting), I’m reminded of the reason why I saved all those drafts instead of deleting them, and I wonder why it’s so complicated for me to put an end to things. I mean. 25 and counting?! That’s madness…

There is no point to this post except sharing my amazement at how absolutely terrifying I find the prospect of actually trying to decide which one to work on next. W-Wish me luck?

This is love!

Ah, to stay at home for a whole day and be able to do whatever I want…! Only not really, because I’m singing tonight. But hey, that’s fun in its own right!

So! I got myself a copy of Pro Tools 9 for my birthday last September, and I’m taking a couple of online courses (on orchestration and remixing, respectively). And I also seem to have gained access to some fantastic-sounding orchestral sample libraries thanks to a job I’ve apparently landed and I’m trying to keep… But. You know when you have too many things, and you just have the hardest time focusing on one of them? You can’t get anything done at times like that. And that’s me right now. Well. That’s always me, as I mentioned before, but let’s not get into that. XD;

To make things short, please bear with me as I try to actually finish something! I’m doing my best, but I’m a mess. Whoever said Virgos were organized and tidy? Myths and lies, I tell you. Myths and lies.

Let’s see how much I can accomplish today. It’s on, self!

It doesn't get more adorable than this

October was the start of many new things in my life. A new cycle, so to speak! So I decided it was about time to go back to rambling online. Er… I meant blogging. Really.

Make no mistake, this will be in English just because it can, and its content will be unrepentantly self-indulgent.

I’m Ankari! I make music, and I’m probably best known on the internet in very specific circles. I used to perform jazz standards regularly in Second Life as Ankari Holder, although I’ve been on hiatus for the most part of a year and a half. I’m also part of the FAWM / 5090 community… even if I have been scarce over there for the last year or so. And I’m an active member of Vocaloid fandom, making songs in Spanish and programming them with the Japanese Vocaloids I own. But I haven’t been very active on that account for the last year either.

So what have I been doing? Too many things to properly accomplish any of my objectives, as per usual. But mostly, having a vocational crisis of sorts… I’m still struggling with that, so I will chronicle my progress as I get over it.
